Human remains found in manure pit

TOWN OF SUN PRAIRIE, Wis. – A set of human remains was found Aug. 9 in a manure pit in the town of Sun Prairie, according to the Dane County Sheriff’s Office.

Dane County deputies were dispatched to the 2100 block of Wisconsin Highway 19 at about 6:45 a.m. and immediately launched an investigation, according to a statement from Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Elise Schaffer. The dead person’s identity and the circumstances surrounding the death are being investigated by the Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office.
